COLUMBUS, Ohio Ohio State’s men’s divers completed day one of the 2008 Speedo USA Diving Spring Nationals Sunday in Minneapolis, Minn.

Leading the way for the Buckeyes was freshman Sean Moore, who performed well in the preliminary rounds of both the 1- and 3-meter springboards. The Englewood, Colo. native finished first on the 1-meter with a score of 321.35. Moore also earned the top spot on the 3-meter after scoring 380.60 points.

Junior Wes Wieser and sophomore Ryan Jefferson also represented Ohio State at the meet. Both Wieser and Jefferson joined Mooore in advancing to the semifinal round on the 1-meter after finishing second (316.85) and third (316.05), respectively. Wieser was close behind Moore on the 3-meter and captured second with a score of 372.95.

Competition continues Monday as the Ohio State women’s team of junior Chelsea Davis and freshman Kristen Asman compete in the preliminary rounds of the 1- and 3-meter springboards. Semifinals and finals begin Wednesday starting at 11 a.m. and continue through Sunday. Divers are competing for open spots at the U.S. Olympic Diving Trials, set for later this summer in Omaha, Neb.
