COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s cross country team placed sixth while the women’s team finished 11th Sunday at the 2004 Big Ten Championships. The event was held on the Ashton Cross Country Course on the campus of Iowa University in Iowa City, Iowa.

The men finished the meet with 127 points. Junior Brian Olinger (Fresno, Ohio/Ridgewood), paced Buckeyes with a seventh-place finish with a time of 24:21. Olinger was selected as a first team All-Big Ten honoree. Teammate John Ealy (Fr., Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Reynoldsburg) recorded a 15th-place finish with a time of 24:40.

The women completed the meet with 276 points. Sophomore Melanie Price (Cincinnati, Ohio/Cincinnati Turpin) finished in 42nd place with a time of 22:31.

Wisconsin earned first-place honors in the men’s race while Michigan won the women’s race.

The Ohio State men’s and women’s cross country teams return to action Nov. 13 at the NCAA Regional Meet in Ypsilanti, Mich.
