COLUMBUS, Ohio-Thad Matta, first year Ohio State head men’s basketball coach, will put his squad through a public scrimmage Saturday at Value City Arena. The men’s team will take the floor at 10 a.m. and will scrimmage for about 90 minutes.

The women’s team, picked to finish first in the Big Ten by the league’s coaches, will open its practice from 9-10 a.m. on the main floor of Value City Arena.

The Ohio State men’s team opens the season with an exhibition game at 7 p.m. Nov. 9 against Northern Kentucky at Value City Arena. The regular season begins Nov. 15 in the first round of the Guardians Classic at VCA. Ohio State will play Towson at 8 p.m. in Game Two of the event. Robert Morris and Morgan State play the event’s first game at 5:30 p.m. The winners and losers from the first day of competition return to meet Nov. 16. Ohio State will play the 8 p.m. game Nov. 16.

The Buckeye women’s team begins exhibition play at 7 p.m. Nov. 10 against the Australian Institute of Sport at VCA. The regular season gets underway at 7 p.m. Nov. 12 against Bowling Green in the first round of the Sportsview.tv WNIT at VCA. If the Buckeyes win, the second round will be vs. Boston University or Saint Joseph’s at 2 p.m. Nov 14 in St. John Arena.

Fans interested in watching the scrimmage can enter the Value City Arena at the Northeast Rotunda. Upon conclusion of the scrimmage at about 11:30 a.m., the arena bowl will be cleared. The Ohio State vs. Indiana football game will not be broadcast on the video boards inside Value City Arena.
