COLUMBUS, Ohio — Jamar Butler scored 18 points and handed out five assists in leading the Tidewater Sealants to a 103-80 victory in the championship game of the Portsmouth (Va.) Basketball Invitational Saturday.
The Ohio State senior point guard connected on 7-of-16 shots from the field, including a 4-of-9 effort from 3-point range in the title game.
The win, which came against the Portsmouth Sports Club, was one of three for Butler and the Sealants at the annual event for college seniors.
In three games, Butler scored 42 points to average 14.0 a contest. He knocked down 44 percent of his field goals (17-39) and 44 percent from 3-point range (8-18). He also handed out 10 assists.
Fellow Buckeye senior Othello Hunter also played in the event. He recorded his third double double at the four-day tournament with 12 points and 13 rebounds in a 97-93 consolation game victory over the Norfolk Sports Club.
Hunter, playing for Sales Systems, averaged 15.7 points and 12.0 rebounds over three games. He knocked down 68 percent from the field (19-28) and recorded 6 blocks.
