COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s and women’s golf teams opened play Friday at the 2004 Landfall Tradition and after one round, the Buckeyes sit in seventh-place and sixth-place respectively. The University of North Carolina Wilmington is playing host to the event at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.

Leading the way for the men’s team is sophomore Colin Biles (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington), who is tied for ninth as he posted an opening round score of two-under-par, 70. Biles’ opening round of 70, marks the second-best round of the fall season for the Columbus, Ohio native. His best round came during the second-round of the Barona Collegiate Cup where he fired a 67.

On the women’s side, three Buckeyes are in the Top 20 with Lindsay Knowlton (Toronto, Ontario/Havergal College) pacing the squad. Knowlton is tied for 11th with an 18-hole total of 73.

Joining Knowlton in the Top 20 are teammates Kristen White (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) and Dana Je (Orlando, Fla./Montverde Academy), who are tied for 16th and 20th.

The second round of the three-day event gets under way Saturday. The men tee off at 8:17 a.m. and the women begin play at 9:12 a.m.
