COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State senior third baseman Noah McGowan was named to the 2018 Mideast-ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team, while senior right-handed reliever Seth Kinker was listed as a second team selection, the association announced Wednesday.
McGowan, from Houston, Texas, earns his second postseason honor after being named a first team All-Big Ten selection last month. He led the Buckeyes with a .351 average with 45 runs scored, 19 doubles, one triple, nine home runs, 55 RBI, 33 walks and .561 slugging percentage in 59 starts, including 21 at third base. He finished third in the Big Ten in hits and doubles, fourth in total bases, fifth in RBI, eighth in batting and tenth in slugging percentage and on-base percentage. McGowan led the Scarlet and Gray with 29 multi-hit games and 11 multi-RBI contests.
Kinker, from Huntington, W. Va., appeared in 30 games and went 6-2 with a 2.27 ERA with 15 saves. He struck out 60 and only walked five in 63.1 innings of work. His 15 saves in 2018 ranked third in OSU single-season history. Had six three-inning saves and was second on the team with six victories. Kinker’s strikeout-to-walk ratio ranked first in the Big Ten and third in the country (12.00). Kinker has been named an All-American three times this postseason. He also is a NCBWA Stopper of the Year Finalist and Senior CLASS Award Finalist. Kinker earned second team All-Big Ten honors.
