COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State men’s basketball head coach Thad Matta addressed members of the media Monday morning on the weekly Big Ten Teleconference. He reflects on the wins over Purdue and Minnesota last week and looks ahead to the Wisconsin game Saturday.
“Well Coach Beilien just answered everything in regards to our team, which I appreciate the kind words. We had a very challenging week and we were fortunate to come out on top in both games – both what I felt were two great, high-level college basketball games, Purdue and Minnesota. Fortunately we were at home and the environment at the Schottenstein Center was tremendous. With a week off this week, we probably needed it. Guys have logged a lot of minutes. I think the big challenge with our team, as I told them Saturday night is we want to be a better team when we take the floor in Madison, Wis., next Saturday night than we were against Minnesota. So as we go into the week of practice, we will get a little bit of rest, but by the same token, we’ve got to get better and we’ve got to work hard.”
