COLUMBUS, Ohio–Thad Matta, Ohio State’s first-year head men’s basketball coach, will throw out the first pitch at the Cleveland Indians vs. New York Yankees Major League Baseball game Monday, Aug. 23 in Cleveland.

Matta is scheduled to make the opening toss at 6:50 p.m. prior to the 7:05 p.m. start of the game.

Matta took over the Ohio State basketball program in July following three successful seasons at Xavier and another as Butler head coach.

The Buckeyes open the 2004-05 season Nov. 15 at Value City Arena against Towson State in the opening round of the Guardian Classic.
