Columbus, Ohio – Ohio State men’s gymnastics redshirt senior Jake Martin has been named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week after his performance at the 47th Windy City Invitational this weekend.

“I was very proud of Jake (Martin) tonight, and how he competed,” Ohio State head coach Rustam Sharipov mentioned after his performance on Saturday night. “As he progresses through the season, his confidence is going to keep growing and growing.”

Martin was the highest Buckeye scorer in the high bar (14.250) and floor (14.300). The redshirt senior also excelled in the pommel horse scoring the third-highest total in the meet with a tally of 13.800. He used scores of 13.450, 14.150, and 13.450 in the rings, vault, and parallel bars to round out his score. It was Martin’s first meet in his return from an Achilles injury in 2016.

Martin’s all-around score is the fifth-highest in the NCAA in 2017. His floor routine is currently ranked ninth in the nation and his high-bar tally of 14.250 is tied for seventh in the country.

This is the third time in Martin’s career that he has been named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week.
