%^$%^$COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel has suspended linebacker Marco Cooper for at least the 2002 football season. Tressel’s action follows Cooper’s arrest late Saturday night by Ohio State University police. The suspension takes effect immediately and could last longer than the 2002 season depending upon the outcome of Cooper’s legal situation.%^$
%^$”While I still have not been able to talk to Marco, based upon the information I do have, he will not be a member of the Ohio State football team in 2002,” Tressel said. “And the outcome of the legal process will determine if the suspension goes beyond that period of time.%^$
%^$”The coaching staff and athletics administration here at Ohio State have worked very hard with Marco as to what the responsibilities and expectations are of every Ohio State student-athlete. But, at this time, the decisions he has made have made it necessary to revoke his privilege of participating in the sport of football at Ohio State.”%^$
