COLUMBUS, Ohio – All-American Christina Manning was named Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week Wednesday by the conference office after finishing first in two events at last weekend’s Jesse Owens Track Classic.
The Waldorf, Md., native posted the fastest time in the Big Ten this season and the fifth-best mark in school history, crossing the finish line in 11.58 for first place in the 100m dash. Manning led a 1-2-3-4 sweep for the Buckeyes to knock off two-time defending Big Ten champion Shavon Greaves of Penn State.
In the 4x100m relay Manning, Letecia Wright, Madison McNary and Chesna Sykes combined for a victory in 44.52. Manning anchored the relay team and together they blew away the field to post the second-fastest time in school history.
