Goalie backstopped Ohio State to road sweep at Minnesota State
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Lisa Steffes, starting goaltender for the Ohio State women’s hockey team, earned her second WCHA Rookie of the Week honor of the season, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced Wednesday. It is the sixth weekly conference honor for the Buckeyes this season.
Steffes made 49 saves in Ohio State’s first WCHA road sweep of the season, taking both games by scores of 3-2 at Minnesota State Jan. 14-15. The freshman netminder stopped 28 shots Friday and then made 21 saves Saturday while allowing two goals in each game. She had a .925 save percentage against the Mavericks.
