Lee, Wright Pace Ohio State to Ninth-Place Standing Through First Round at Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Ohio State women’s golf team sets ninth after the first round of the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational Friday at UNC Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C. Jaclyn Lee and Alex Wright paced the Buckeyes, each tallying a 1-under 71, to tie for 13th after 18 holes of play.

A native of Calgary, Alberta, Lee tallied her fourth round under par in six rounds so far in 2017, while Wright fired her second round below par. Wright, from Midlothian, Va., notched two birdies for a front nine 34 before dropping her only shot of the day on the par-4 18th.

Redshirt senior Rio Watanabe shot a 2-over 74 with a team-high four birdies, three of which came in a three-hole stretch as part of a front-nine 34. Freshman Sofia Seldemirova completed her first counted round for the Buckeyes, posting a 4-over 76, while junior Niki Schroeder rounded out the Ohio State lineup with a 6-over 78.
