COLUMBUS, Ohio – Seniors Jaclyn Lee and Niki Schroeder and junior Alex Wright have been named Ohio State’s Big Ten preseason honorees, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Lee, who last week finished in a tie for 16th in the opening stage at LPGA Q-School and earlier this month advanced to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Women’s Amateur, was a 2018 WGCA second team All-American and first team All-Big Ten selection. The medalist of the 2018 Big Ten Championships, Lee shattered the previous school scoring record and ranked 11th nationally at 71.14, breaking Allison Hanna’s previous Ohio State record of 72.58 set in 2003-04.
Schroeder notched four Top 25 finishes while tying for the Buckeyes’ second-best scoring average at 75.3 in 2017-18. The Avon Lake, Ohio, native carded four rounds in the 60’s, six under par and three even par, all of which were either second or tied for second on the team
Wright, a native of Midlothian, Va., played in 11 events a season ago, with 23 of her 31 rounds counting toward the team tally. Wright tied Schroeder for the second-best scoring average on the team at 75.3 while posting two round in the 60’s, five under par and one at even par.
The Buckeyes open their 2018-19 season at East & West Match Play Sept. 16-18 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
