PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. – For the second time in as many days of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, Jaclyn Lee posted the lowest score of all Buckeyes competing. Lee’s second round 71 lifted her into a tie for 17th place overall in the 88-player field comprised mostly of Top-30 teams.
The Buckeye lineup shaved eight strokes between rounds, following an opening score of 299 by carding a 291 on Monday. Ohio State dropped in 15 birdies in round number two, compared to just a pair in the first go-around. The 119-par total paces all teams. At 22-over through 36 holes, the 24th-ranked Buckeyes are tied with No. 18 Oklahoma State and No. 27 Tennessee.
Lee heated up during the second half of her round, posting four of her five birdies in the second set of nine holes. Jessica Porvasnik got hot on Holes 1-9 as well after starting the day on the ‘Back 9’ and Hole 10. She finished 2-under over the last nine holes and carded a 1-over 72 for the day to leap 15 slots on the individual leaderboard, going from a share of 73rd up into 58th place.
Zoe-Beth Brake, playing as an individual, shot her second straight 74 — good for a 6-over total ledger and a spot in the top half of the field (T-40th). She closed on quite a run, birdieing three of the last four holes. Katja Pogacar and Niki Schroeder matched Brake’s 74 after both carding 75 in the opening round. The OSU pair is tied for 49th at 7-over entering Tuesday’s final trip around the course.
