COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State senior center Jantel Lavender has been named the Big Ten player of the week in honor of her performance against Temple and Eastern Michigan this past weekend.
The Cleveland, Ohio, native scored 63 points, grabbed 21 rebounds, dished out 10 assists and blocked five shots as Ohio State started off 2-0. She shot 66.7 percent from the field and 91.7 percent from the FT line in the two wins.
Against Temple Friday she scored a career-high 37 points on 16-of-22 from the field to go along with 12 boards. Then against EMU, she scored 26 points on 10-of-17 from the field to go along with nine boards, seven assists and three blocks. She has now scored in double figures in all 104 career games, the longest active streak in the nation.
