Freshman forward factored into five of six Ohio State goals at North Dakota
COLUMBUS, Ohio Laura McIntosh, a freshman forward on the Ohio State women’s hockey team, was named WCHA Co-Rookie of the Week, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced Wednesday. She shares the award with Alyssa Wiere, a forward from North Dakota.
It is the second-consecutive week a Buckeye has earned the conference rookie award with Natalie Spooner picking up honors last week. Ohio State has collected three weekly awards this season.
McIntosh played a part in five of six Buckeye goals in a road series at North Dakota, Nov. 1-2. The rookie forward from Waterloo, Ontario, had an assist on the second goal in game one. She followed by setting up or scoring all four OSU goals in the second game, alternating with assist, goal, assist and goal. Her line totaled 10 points that contest.
With her five points, McIntosh took the lead in team scoring with 13 points. She also has a Buckeye-best nine assists and extended her point streak to five games.
Last weekend, McIntosh and Buckeyes opened a span where they play four of five series away from Columbus. Ohio State next travels to St. Cloud State for a WCHA series, Nov. 8-9. Games begin at 2 p.m. (CT) Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn.
