NORMAN, Okla. — Junior Alex Johnson and senior Drew Moling will represent the Ohio State men’s gymnastics team at the NCAA Event Finals tomorrow evening after posting qualifying scores at the 2015 NCAA Team Championships Friday night at the Lloyd Noble Center.
Johnson posted the top score of the day on high bar, sticking his landing for a 15.150. The 2014 Big Ten champion on the event and a native of Marysville, Ohio, Johnson owns a season-best score of 15.325 — set at the Big Ten championships –and a personal-best 15.450. He also represented OSU on parallel bars (14.100) and rings (14.650) finishing tied for 28th and 30th overall on the respective events.
Moling tied for fourth on rings with a season-best 15.600, not far from his personal-best of 15.900. The Canal Winchester, Ohio, product competed in all six events as an all-around competitor for the Buckeyes, totaling a score of 84.550 in his third collegiate all-around competition for 15th-place finish.
Six other Buckeyes competed as individuals in the team finals:
· Three Buckeyes were featured on floor exercise. Freshman Alexander Wilson used a score of 14.850 to tie for 13th on vault. Redshirt junior Andrew Teal tied for 20th with a 14.750, while freshman Seth Delbridge placed 23rd after scoring 14.650.
· Redshirt sophomore Emeric Quade (14.900) and freshman Meyer Williams (14.650) represented OSU on floor exercise, finishing 26th and tied for 30th, respectively.
· Sophomore Logan Melander placed 27th on pommel horse with a 13.750.
