COLUMBUS, Ohio – Joao Ehlers, a junior forward on the Ohio State men’s soccer team, was named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. Ehlers, a native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, earns his first weekly honor of his Buckeye career.

In just his second appearance in the Scarlet and Gray, Ehlers came into a scoreless match in overtime vs. Elon Sept. 7 and scored the gamewinning goal in the 92nd minute from 18 yards out to give Ohio State its first win of the 2014 season. The goal also marked the first of his career at Ohio State. Ehlers shares the honor with Patrick Doody of Indiana.

Ohio State (1-0-3) begins conference play this weekend at 1 p.m. Sunday vs. Northwestern at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The B1G match will be televised live on Big Ten Network.
