COLUMBUS, Ohio-Jeremy Wurtzman, a junior on the Ohio State men’s tennis team, defeated Victor Romero of Tulane, 6-3, 7-6 (4) Thursday at the ITA All-American Championship in Chattanooga, Tenn. Wurtzman is seeded No. 14 in the event.

Wurtzman is currently ranked No. 21 in the nation. In the 32-player second round of the main draw, Wurtzman will face Indiana State’s Vedran Vidovic Friday.

Ty Tucker, Ohio State men’s tennis head coach, believes Wurtzman has the ability to contend for a national championship and would love to see him bring back a title.

Vince Ng, a senior on the Ohio State men’s tennis team, lost to Baylor’s Matias Marin, 6-1, 6-1. Ng finished his ITA All-American Championship record at 6-1.

Ng was forced by weather to move indoors for his final match.

“The rain is no excuse, but Ng does play better outside,” Tucker said. “We are very pleased with his performance and hope to see him ranked among the Top 50 in the nation.”
