COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State’s Jackson Reid claimed Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors today, the conference office announced.
Reid scored a game-high four goals – two in each half – as No. 6 Ohio State defeated No. 20 Boston University, 15-9, last Saturday inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Reid’s first two scores came three minutes apart in the opening quarter as the Buckeyes built up a 7-0 lead. Late in the third quarter, Reid helped swing momentum back in Ohio State’s favor by scoring back-to-back goals to finish off his offensive day.
A native of Guelph, Ontario, Reid is currently second in the team in scoring through two games with five goals and an assist. He’s the second Buckeye in as many weeks to take home a weekly conference award – last Tuesday, sophomore Christian Feliziani was named the Big Ten Specialist of the Week after winning 10 of 12 face-offs against Cleveland State.
Reid and Buckeyes return to the Woody Hayes Athletic Center on Saturday for a noon contest against Hofstra. The game is already sold out and a stream will be available at OhioStateBuckeyes.com.
