 Buckeyes at the Inverness Intercollegiate

  • The Buckeyes are playing in at the renowned Inverness Club for the Inverness Intercollegiate for the fifth time in the tournament’s 13-year history.
  • The last time OSU was in the field was in 2015 when the team finished in 6th place overall
  • Will Grimmer played in the event as a freshman and finished tied for 14th
  • Ohio State also participated in the event in 2011, 2005 and 2000.

The Course

  • The renowned Inverness Club was founded in 1903 and has played host to four U.S. Opens, two U.S. Senior Opens, two PGA Championships and the 1973 U.S. Amateur Championship.
  • The venue also hosted the 2009 NCAA Men’s Golf Championships in which the Buckeyes where a part of the field

Noting the buckeyes

  • Ohio State opened the year for the second-straight year at The Carmel Cup at famed Pebble Beach Golf Links. Juniors Will Grimmer and Caleb Ramirez led the Buckeyes as they tied for 23rd at 3-under par.
  • The under-par finish at the Carmel Cup was the first of Caleb Ramirez’s career and he was subsequently named the Big Ten Golfer of the Week on Sept. 6.
  • Transfer Will Voetsch made his Buckeye debut at the Carmel Cup and had quite the showing. He opened with a 3-under 69 in his first round as a Buckeye and would finish the event at even-par.
  • The Buckeyes return the four lowest scoring averages from last season led by the All-Big Ten honoree Grimmer. The Cincinnati, Ohio native averaged 71.97 and recorded six top-10s.
