Seniors Nick Schilkey, Drew Brevig and Josh Healey have been selected to serve as captains for the Ohio State men’s hockey team in 2016-17 after a team vote. Schilkey will wear the captain’s `C’ for the second year in a row, while Brevig and Healey will don the `A’ as alternate captains. All three are three-time Ohio State Scholar-Athletes and two-time Academic All-Big Ten selections along with earning All-Big Ten recognition for their on ice performances.
Schilkey, a native of Marysville, Mich., was a Second Team All-B1G selection in 2016. He was fifth in scoring among Big Ten players in 2015-16, posting a career-high 19 goals, 22 assists and 41 points, just the third 40+ point season for a Buckeye since 2006. Schilkey, who was a four-time Big Ten Star of the Week as a junior, has played in 106 games for the Scarlet and Gray, with 42 goals, 47 assists and 89 points, and was a Big Ten All-Freshman Team selection in 2014.
Brevig, who hails from Lakeville, Minn., had a career-high 16 goals assists and 19 points as a junior in 2015-16, tying for seventh in points among conference defensemen. He was third nationally with 101 blocked shots (one of just three players with 100+) and 2.81 blocks per game in 2015-16. A Big Ten All-Freshman Team and All-Tournament Team choice in 2014, he has played in 98 games as a Buckeye, recording seven goals and 36 assists for 43 points.
Healey, from Edmonton, Alberta, was a 2016 First Team All-B1G choice. He had 21 points in 2015-16, tying for fourth among Big Ten blueliners in scoring, with five goals and 16 assists, all career highs. Healey has skated in 98 games for the Buckeyes and has 35 points, with eight goals and 27 assists, along with 169 blocked shots.
