COLUMBUS, Ohio – Incoming Ohio State men’s hockey freshmen defenseman Kevin Montgomery and goalie Joe Palmer were two of 43 players who participated in the USA Hockey 2006 National Junior Evaluation Camp in Lake Placid, N.Y. The 43 players were split into two teams (Team White, Team Blue) and participated in four games each against Finland and Sweden. Team USA combined for a 7-1 ledger.

The roster for the 2007 U.S. National Junior Team, which will compete at the 2007 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship in Leksand and Mora, Sweden, will be chosen from the players who participated in the evaluation camp.

Palmer saw action in three games for Team White and led all goalies in the camp with three wins (3-0). He allowed four goals and made 44 saves.

Montgomery ended the tournament with one assist in four games, as he set up Chorney’s goal in Team Blue’s 4-1 victory over Finland Aug. 11. He also had eight penalty minutes during the tournament. Team Blue was 3-1 in the tourney, with the only loss coming in a shootout against Sweden on the final day.
