COLUMBUS, Ohio — While the Buckeyes are gearing up for the Western Collegiate Hockey Association tournament and a looking to make a run at a national title this season, the gears are already in motion to help the team maintain the success they’ve found this season. A potential key to that future success is Madison Bizal, one of the five finalists for the 2018 Minnesota Ms. Hockey Award.
Bizal, the only defenseman among the five finalists has solidified herself as one of the elite defensemen in the state of hockey. With a 10-13-23 stat line through 26 games this season at Elk River, Bizal has accumulated over 100 points in her career. Six of her 10 goals this season have come on the power play, and one was shorthanded.
Earlier this year Bizal won goal with the United States Women’s National Under-18 team at the 2018 International Ice Hockey Federation U18 Championship. She played in all five games the USA played and finished with a plus-three rating and two assists in the tournament.
While we’ll have to wait until the fall to see Bizal suit up for OSU, the Buckeyes open their final home series of the regular season tonight. Puck drop for tonight’s series opener against Bemidji State is set for 6:07 p.m. at the OSU Ice Rink.
