COLUMBUS, Ohio — Departing senior defensive lineman Cameron Heyward worked out for more than 25 NFL scouts at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center Wednesday. A four-year starter and first team all-Big Ten selection, Heyward is projected as an early round pick by several draft experts.
Heyward was a Playboy All-American, a Lombardi Award semifinalist and a Lott Trophy quarterfinalist in 2010. He started 46 career games, totaling 163 tackles, 37.5 TFL and 15.5 sacks. At the team banquet in December, Heyward was awarded the Bill Willis Trophy from coaches as the team’s outstanding defensive player in helping the Ohio State defense rank among the national leaders in several statistical categories.
Heyward also is one of several players taking part in an NFL.com video series called “Everything to Prove”, which chronicles 14 rookies vying for one dream as they journey their way to the NFL.
