The Ohio State women’s golf team signed Gemma Webster as the final member of the freshman class for the 2005-06 season. Webster, from Glasgow, Scotland, joins three other recruits previously signed to National Letters of Intent by head coach Therese Hession.

Webster is a member of the Scottish national team, which competes in a variety of tournaments throughout Scotland and Europe. In 2002, she narrowly lost the Scottish girl’s championship title. Bringing a strong swing and solid mechanics, Hession expects Webster to add to the team’s depth while competing for a spot in the lineup.

“Gemma has really good, solid mechanics,” Hession said. “I think she’ll really help us. She’s going to be a great addition to our team.”

Webster completes the quartet of new faces to the women’s golf program. Joining her will be Jennifer Cassidy of Daltor, Ga., Jessica Hauser of Hartland, Wis. and Stephanie Connelly of Pasadena, Md.

The Buckeyes open the season at the University of New Mexico McGuire Invitational Sept. 26-28 in Albuquerque, N.M., site of the 2008 NCAA Championships.
