STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The ninth-ranked Ohio State Field Hockey team defeated Lock Haven, 4-2, Sunday behind a career-high three goals by freshman Linda Haussener. The Buckeyes scored two goals in each half and registered 20 shots on goal for the second time this season. The game completed OSU’s non-conference schedule as the team finished with an 11-2 mark in those contests. Overall, the Buckeyes are 14-4 (3-2 Big Ten), while Lock Haven falls to 12-5 (7-1 NEC).

Haussener (Baden, Switzerland/Kantonsschule Baden) got Ohio State on the board early when she tipped in a corner shot by junior Saskia Mueller (Zuerich, Switzerland) at 6:04. The assist was Mueller’s 16th of the season and one of two in the game. Lock Haven responded at the 14:25 mark when Blair Wynne scored to tie the game at 1-1.

Haussener then scored her second goal at 29:35 off an assist by sophomore Yesenia Luces (Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago). The goal returned the lead to the Buckeyes as the score moved to 2-1 at the half.

Mueller and Haussener connected again for a goal from the right side early in the second half at 41:22. The goal upped the score to 3-1 and was Haussener’s fifth of the season. The three-goal performance bumped her up to a tie for sixth on the team in points with 11. Mueller’s two assists increased her team-leading total to 17.

Lock Haven came within one goal when Samantha Stoyer tipped in a breakaway at 58:13 to move the score to 3-2. Senior Kateline Condon (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) put the game out of reach at 68:24 when she knocked in a rebound by Luces to increase the lead to 4-2. Lucas’ two assists moved her season total to 16. Overall, the Buckeyes outshot LHU 32-8, with a 19-3 margin in the second half. Ohio State recorded 15 corners while the Eagles had two.

Senior Buckeye keeper Lindsay Williams (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Township) made three saves in the game. Junior Jessica Gofgosky (Marathon, N.Y./Marathon Central) had a defensive save, her fourth of the season. Becca Yarkes started in the cage for the Eagles, allowing three goals with 11 saves. Ali Harris played the last 16:38 with one goal and five saves.

The Buckeyes conclude their regular-season schedule when they face Michigan State at 11 a.m. Oct. 29.
