DES MOINES, Iowa – Michael Hartfield and Jake Edwards represented the Ohio State men’s track and field team at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Championships Thursday.

Hartfield, the 2011 Great Lakes and Big Ten Field Athlete of the Year, earned Second Team All-American honors for the second time in his career by finishing 13th in the long jump (7.80m/25-7.25). Edwards placed 10th in his heat and 18th overall in the 1500m run in his first trip to the national championships – the junior’s time of 3:51.07 is good for Honorable Mention All-America.

The Buckeye 4x400m relay team was also scheduled to compete Thursday evening, but the semifinal race was delayed until Friday by thunderstorms. A start time is yet to be determined.
