Columbus, Ohio – The Gray team won the OSU softball intra-squad series three games to one over Scarlet with a 10-7 victory today. The Gray team was down 7-6 heading into the seventh inning and rallied to score four runs and hold the Scarlet team to finish the game.

Senior Kristine Himes (Bolivar, Ohio/Tuscarawas Valley), who scored four times for the Gray squad, including one run in each of the final three innings, went three-for-four with a homerun, two doubles and a single. At the top of the seventh inning with two outs, Himes hit a double to left field and advanced a Gray runner to tie the game at seven. Freshman Ashley Cutcliff (Zionsville, Ind./University of Florida) also hit a left-field double to bring home Himes, junior Kristi DeVries (Corona, Calif./Corona) and freshman Chelsea Baker (Gahanna, Ohio/DeSales) to secure Gray’s victory.

The Ohio State softball team begins their spring season Feb. 7-9 at the Panther Invitational, which will be held on the Florida International campus. The Buckeyes face Florida Atlantic to kick off the 2003 season.
