Gray Tops Scarlet, 4-3, Saturday in Game 2

COLUMBUS, Ohio –  The Gray squad bounced back with a 4-3 win over Scarlet and game two of the 2017 Scarlet & Gray World Series Saturday afternoon at Bill Davis Stadium. Andrew Fishel knocked the go-ahead, three-run double in the bottom of the second, while the Gray bullpen kept the Scarlet bats off the scoreboard with three shutout innings in the win. Game three of the series is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday and admission is free (parking: Pay-N-Display).

SCARLET SCORES FIRST
Just like last night, Everhart’s squad took the early lead with two runs in the top of the second. With the bases loaded, Scottie Seymour knocked a sac fly deep to right field before Malik Jones hit a RBI single to center field for the 2-0 advantage.

GRAY REBOUNDS QUICKLY
The Gray squad came right back with four runs on three hits in the bottom of the second. Nate Romans powered an opposite field home run over the wall in left to make it 2-1. Fishel then connected on a 3-2 count for a bases-clearing double.

CHERRY BOMB CUTS THE GRAY LEAD TO ONE
Brady Cherry
cut the Gray lead to one run in the top of the third when he launched his second home run of the weekend over the wall in dead center for a solo shot.

GRAY BULLPEN DOES ITS JOB
Austin Woodby and Seth Kinker combined to throw three scoreless innings to claim the win for the Gray team. The Buckeye pair didn’t allow a baserunner and had one strikeout. Kyle Michalik was strong out of the bullpen for the Scarlet team with four strikeouts in three scoreless frames.
