COLUMBUS, Ohio – Julia Dickinson has signed a national letter of intent to further her academic and athletic career as a member of the Ohio State field hockey team, head coach Jarred Martin announced.

Dickinson played on the X-Calibur field hockey team on the U-12 team through the U-19 team as a back. Dickinson was also a four-year letterwinner at Methacton High School as a midfielder and back, starting all four years. Dickinson helped the Warriors to a 2017 Pioneer Athletic Conference Championship, and was a two-time all-league selection in addition to being an all-state and all-region selection her junior year before suffering an injury in her senior season.

Dickinson was a Disney Showcase champion as a member of the U-16 X-Calibur team in 2014, following that up with the U-16 team as a Club Championship finalist. Dickinson then helped the U-19 team to a runner-up finish at the Disney Showcase in 2015.

Dickinson’s family has a storied field hockey history, as her mother, Meredith, played at Penn State while her sister, Brittany, currently plays back at Wake Forest. Dickinson also has two aunts that played Division I field hockey – Jennifer Smith, who played at Drexel and Melanie Blakemore, whom Dickinson follows as a Buckeye (1989-1993).

“Julia is coming to Ohio State from a great area with both her high school and her club team being very successful over the years,” Martin said. “Hockey has been a huge part of the Dickinson family with her mom playing at Penn State and her sister playing at Wake Forest. Julia has great game sense and good hands. Her ability to direct and control the field is something you notice right from the start of a game. I am excited to have her join the Buckeye family and watch her grow over her time here at Ohio State.”
