COLUMBUS, Ohio – Aaliyah Hernandez has signed a national letter of intent to further her academic and athletic career as a member of the Ohio State field hockey team, head coach Jarred Martin announced.
Hernandez was a four-year letterwinner at Bayside High School and Health and Sciences Academy. The Virginia Beach, Va., native and 2017 team captain is a three-time All-Coastal Conference selection and a Max Field Hockey Top 50 player. A two-time AAU Junior Olympic and two-time junior national camp selection, Hernandez was a member of the U-17 junior national team in 2017 and earned second place at the U-16 National Club Championship.
“I am really excited about having Aaliyah in the Scarlet and Gray,” Martin said. “She is a tremendous student-athlete and you see that in the cage as well as in the classroom. What I really enjoy about Aaliyah is her selflessness and work rate. She is such a good teammate and doesn’t shy away from hard work to be her best. She was a member of the USA junior team and comes from one of the best club teams in the country so she has been around high-caliber play. I can’t wait to see her bring that competitiveness to Ohio State.”
