The Ohio State women’s swimming and diving team had a solid diving performance in the second day of the 2004 Big Ten Swimming and Diving Championships in Minneapolis, Minn. Thursday, finishing in third and fourth place in the 1-meter dive. After seven events, the Buckeyes are in 10th place with 61 points, while Michigan leads the conference meet with 213 points.

The freshmen duo of Amber Simmons and Julie Broms earned the Buckeyes 33 points in their first appearance at the Big Ten Championships, with Simmons taking third place in the 1-meter dive with a score of 287.75 and Broms taking fourth place with a score of 283.40. Ohio State was disqualified from the 200-yard medley relay, but earned a ninth place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay with a team season-best time of 7:24.82. The Buckeyes also finished in 11th place in the 200-yard freestyle with another season-best time of 1:35.02.

The Big Ten championships conclude Saturday evening at the University Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minn.
