COLUMBUS, Ohio-Jason Fox (Goshen, Ind./Goshen) broke an Ohio State school record in the 200-individual medley on his way to an 18th-place finish in the preliminary race of the Olympic Trials in Indianapolis. His time of 2:06.75 was one-tenth of a second away from the finals.

Other Buckeye swimmers included juniors Travis Carver (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley) and Dan Vitina (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Trafford). Carver placed 48th in the 200-individual medley with a time of 2:09.19, while Vitina placed 59th in the 200-backstroke with a time of 2:08.02.

Today, Brian Malich (Sr., Mason, Ohio/El Dorado, Calif.) and Brandon Deters (So., Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven) will compete in the 50-freestyle preliminary. Other events scheduled for today are the 200-backstroke and the 200-individual medley finals.
