COLUMBUS, Ohio – Former Ohio State swimmer Nick Rees finished third in the second heat of the men’s 100-meter butterfly Thursday in the Olympics at the Olympic Aquatic Centre, which is located at the Athens Olympic Sports Complex in Maroussi, Greece. Rees, a native of Nassau, Bahamas (Saint Augustin), recorded the school’s second fastest time in the 100 fly when he competed for Ohio State from 1999-2003. In the Olympic preliminary, he touched the wall in a time of 56.39, a little more than 1 1/2 seconds behind Michal Rubacek, of the Czech Republic, who finished the event in 54.87 seconds. No one from the heat advanced to Wednesday night’s semifinals. The final will be Friday.
