COLUMBUS, Ohio – Former Buckeye Raj Bhasvar (2000-03) finished 27th all-around at the USA Gymnastics 2006 VISA Championships finals Friday evening at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn. After missing one of nine automatic bids to the national team and world team, Bhasvar awaits the U.S. Gymnastics Men’s Program Committee’s decision to see if he will be selected for one of the five remaining spots on the teams.

At the finals, Bhasvar had four Top 12 finishes including a placing third on parallel bars (29.85). Bhasvar also earned fifth place on pommel horse (29.00), tied for eighth on rings (30.25) and finished 12th on vault (30.60).

“It was an excellent showing for Raj,” Miles Avery, Ohio State head coach, said. “He hit every routine. Hopefully this is sign he is on his way back to the national and world level of gymnastics.”

Ohio State senior Kristopher Kline (Westerville, Ohio/Hocking Valley Gymnastics Center) ended his first national championships in 30th. Kline best showing for the evening was a tie for 13th on vault with a 30.55.
