PARK RIDGE, IL – The Big Ten Conference office announced today that Robin Jentes has been named the Associate Director of Communications. The Ohio-native will be the primary media contact for men’s basketball and the secondary contact for football while also working with field hockey, gymnastics and softball. She will assume her duties at the Conference office beginning September 1.

Jentes joins the Big Ten Communications staff after serving as the Associate Director of Media Relations at Conference USA since September of 2001. During that time, she was the primary contact for women’s basketball, volleyball, tennis and swimming and diving and the secondary contact for football. She was also the media director for the Conference USA Women’s Basketball Tournament and managed and developed the league’s women’s sports marketing “Be There” campaign.

Prior to her stint at Conference USA, Jentes filled the role of Athletics Media Relations Assistant at the University of Texas for the 2000-01 academic year, where she coordinated the publicity efforts for one of the nation’s largest athletic departments . In her time in Austin, she led the media relations efforts for the 2001 NCAA Champion men’s swimming and diving program while also working with golf and rowing.

Jentes graduated from Ohio State University in March of 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and worked in the Athletics Communications department for the Buckeyes from 1997-2000. She was the secondary contact for all public relations efforts for the men’s basketball Final Four team in 1999 while also working with a variety of other sports during her time in Columbus, including women’s basketball, softball, swimming and diving, golf, tennis, synchronized swimming, track and field and cross country.
