Norman, Okla.–Five Buckeyes competed in the individual event finals tonight in the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Okla. After capturing his first NCAA all-around title last night, junior Raj Bhavsar, competed in three events (vault, pommel horse and still rings). OSU had three Buckeyes competing on floor exercise (Kerry Adderly, Jamey Houle and Dick Huntwork) and freshman Randy Monahan qualified for the parallel bars and the high bar finals.

Adderly, in his first national event finals, was the top finisher for the Buckeyes finishing second on floor exercise with a score of 9.312. Huntwork (8.925) finished fourth and Houle, 8.850, finished sixth, because all three Buckeyes finished in the top six all earned All-American honors.

Bhavsar finished fifth on pommel horse, 9.412, and vault, 9.275, which earned him All-American status for the second and third time during this three day competition. During his rings routine Bhavsar (7.775) re-injured his left shoulder and was forced to quit before the completion of his routine.

Monahan earned All-American honors by finishing sixth on high bar (9.025). The Buckeye freshman also competed on parallel bars finishing eighth, 8.250.

Ohio State head coach Miles Avery said he is proud of all his student-athletes this weekend, but he was especially impressed by the performance of the freshman.

“This weekend our freshman did an great job stepping up for us like season veterans,” Avery said. “Tonight, with Kerry (Adderly) finishing second on floor and Randy (Monahan) being an All-American as well, speaks volumes about what we are going to be in the future.”
