COLUMBUS, Ohio – The seventh-ranked Ohio State first varsity eight boat was named Big Ten Boat of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. It is the first weekly Big Ten honor for a Buckeye boat this season.

Ohio State’s first varsity eight of Simone Haubner, Susanne Herbrand, Ninett Kossowsky, Beth Tompkins, Gabrielle Albertaviciute, Jess Shepherd, Annabelle Fago, Charlott Goldstein and coxswain Sarah Obee recorded three victories April 1 at the ACC/Big Ten Duals held at Griggs Reservoir. The seventh-ranked boat upset No. 3 Virginia in their morning dual, finishing with a time of 6:36.80 to the Cavaliers’ 6:38.44. The win helped mark in the first time in program history that OSU topped Virginia in all three NCAA races.

In the second session of the day, the Buckeyes defeated both No. 13 Michigan State and Duke to conclude the event. Ohio State posted a time of 6:34.20, the best varsity eight time of the entire regatta, to edge the Spartans at 6:34.59. Duke finished third at 6:43.63.

The Buckeyes next welcome No. 8 USC and No. 14 Tennessee for duals April 8. The regatta begins at 9 a.m. at Griggs Reservoir.
