COLUMBUS, Ohio – Down two games to none to 12th-seed Tennessee (32-3 overall), the fifth-seeded Ohio State (30-3) women’s volleyball team rallied to win the final three games for a 3-2 (29-31, 27-30, 30-16, 30-26, 15-12) victory in the NCAA Championship Regional Semifinals in the Sports Pavilion on the University of Minnesota campus. The Buckeyes will face Big Ten foe and No. 4 seed Minnesota (31-4), a 3-2 (25-30, 30-22, 30-24, 46-48, 15-9) winner over Georgia Tech (27-7) in the second semifinal, Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET. The match will be carried live by College Sports Television (CSTV). Ohio State’s Stacey Gordon (Sr., Oshawa, Ontario) scored a match-high 38 points for the Buckeyes with Maya Mapp (Sr., Washington, D.C.) adding 22 and Ami Stevens (Fr., Centerburg, Ohio) 20. Gordon had a match-high 35 kills (.316) with an ace serve, a solo block and two assists. She scored the final four OSU kills in game five for the win. Mapp had a season-high 19 kills (.350) with six assist blocks and Meyer added 15 kills, an ace serve, two solo blocks and four assists. Tennessee’s Michelle Piantadosi had a team-high 27.5 points for the Lady Vols with Yuliya Stoyanova adding 15.5. Piantadosi recorded a team-high 26 kills (.350) and had three assist blocks while Stoyanova had 14 kills and three assist blocks.

Tennessee opened game one with a 3-0 lead off three OSU errors. Trailing 5-1, two kills by Danielle Meyer (Fr., Cincinnati, Ohio), one from Marisa Main (So., Louisville, Ky.) and a Tennessee error tied the game at five. Tied at seven, an Stevens kill and a Tennessee error gave the Buckeyes a 9-8 lead. At 11-10, OSU, A Vol error and kills from Gordon and Meyer made it 14-10. A Sarah Blum kill and an OSU error cut the lead to 14-12. A Gordon kill made it 15-12. Tennessee, with three OSU errors tied the game at 15. Tied at 17, a Mapp kill made it 18-17. Tennessee, with kills by Andre Kristen and Michelle Piantadosi took the lead at 19-19. Gordon tied the game at 19 with a kill. Piantadosi gave Tennessee a 21-20 lead with a kill. Back-to-back ace serves from Whitney Gifford ended the game in favor of Tennessee, 31-29. The Lady Vols hit .255 for the game to .242 for OSU.

Tied at seven in game two, a kill and ace serve by Amy Morris, an OSU error and a Piantadosi kill opened an 11-7 Tennessee lead. Two OSU kills by Mapp and Tennessee kills by Piantadosi and Blum made it 13-9. Two more Piantadosi kills and an OSU error made it 16-9 Tennessee. Kills by Meyer and Stoyanova made it 17-10.
