COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State field hockey team (1-1, 0-0 Big Ten) defeated Pacific (1-1, 0-0 Nor Pac), 3-1, Sunday in Stanford, Calif. Freshman Curlyne Wynn (Fr., Trincity, Trinidad and Tobago) led the squad with two goals, tallying her first Ohio State career points. The Buckeyes improved their California road trip record to 1-1, after suffering a loss to California Saturday.

OSU gained control of the game midway through the first period as Wynn scored on a pass from Lucy Clayton (Jr., Scarborough, England) 23:10 into the game. Pacific attempted to score soon after but Buckeye goalie Tory Krauss (Fr., Toledo, Ohio) proved true and held the Tigers to 1-0 heading into halftime.

Senior Vanessa Immordino (Sr., Roseland, N.J.) capitalized on a breakaway opportunity by scoring her first goal on the season seven minutes into the second half. Less than three minutes later, Wynn secured the Buckeyes’ victory with her second goal of the game, leading to a 3-0 OSU edge. Immordino assisted on the score.

Pacific tried to rally as Megan Haas tallied a goal at 51:08. But, the Buckeye defense held the Tigers scoreless for the rest of game.

Ohio State outshot Pacific 16-11 and took six penalty corners compared to the Tigers three. Krauss, OSU goalie, recorded five saves and the win in her first collegiate appearance. Gina Sadler and Kim Myers split time in the box for Pacific, recording nine saves.
