Senior forward scored four goals en route to a road sweep of Bemidji State

COLUMBUS, Ohio Senior forward Erin Keys of the Ohio State women’s hockey team was named WCHA Offensive Player of the Week, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced Tuesday. It is the second time this season the St. Paul, Minn., native has received the honor and the sixth time a Buckeye has earned a conference weekly award this year.

Keys scored a hat trick the first game and added a goal in game two for a four-goal series in a sweep at Bemidji State, Feb. 22-23 in Bemidji, Minn. The three-goal performance in Ohio State’s 6-3 victory in game one was the second of her career and her fifth multi-goal game of the season. Keys followed the next game by opening the scoring 29 seconds into the game in an eventual 3-2 win.

With her four goals against the Beavers, Keys increased her team-leading total to 22 to also take the overall goal lead in the WCHA. She has tied her career-high in goal scoring set last season, which ranks fifth all-time at Ohio State. Keys moved up the third in the WCHA in scoring with 43 points and has scored six goals in the last three games.

Keys and the fifth-seeded Buckeyes (16-15-3, 11-14-3 WCHA) will next begin post-season action with a first round WCHA playoff series at fourth-seed St. Cloud State (16-13-5, 11-13-4 WCHA). The best-of-three series will take place Feb. 29-March 2 with all games beginning at 2:07 p.m. (CT) at the National Hockey Center.
