COLLEGE GROVE, Tenn. – Sophomore Clark Engle cleared the entire field by two strokes on Day Two of The Intercollegiate at The Grove as the only player to go under par. His low round of 70 thrust him up into a tie for fourth place overall and helped raise the Buckeyes into a share of fourth place in the team standings.
Ohio State ascended two spots on Monday, recording a 300 and pulling four shots closer to the leading Troy Trojans (+7). The Buckeyes have been accurate on Par 3s, going just 7-over as a team on such holes, the best tally in the tournament.
Engle charged through the Back 9 with three birdies, including the 18th hole. With one round to go, Engle is in the running for his third top-5 finish in four tournaments played this season.
Seniors Boo Timko and Logan are both in contention for top-25 showings despite taking very different routes to get there. Timko has carded back-to-back 74s and is tied for 16th at 4-over while Jones opened with a 69 followed by an 80 in the second stanza. His 5-over 149 is worth a share of 21st place entering the final day.
