COLUMBUS, Ohio – After recording five points in the Ohio State men’s hockey team’s sweep of Alabama-Huntsville, junior forward Danny Dries has been named the CCHA Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

In the Buckeyes’ 6-2 win over the visiting Chargers last Friday, Dries had a team season-high three assists and four points. He scored on the power play in the first period to put Ohio State up by two and had a second-period assist. He then added two first assists in the third period, leading to his first multiple-point game as a Buckeye. Saturday Dries had an assist in the second period as the Buckeyes won, 5-1. He was +3 in the series and had a team-high 12 shots.

Dries is third on the squad with eight points, on three goals and five assists, while playing in all nine games. He has a point in four of the last five games.

Dries is the third Buckeye to earn league player of the week honors this season. Cal Heeter was the CCHA Goaltender of the Week Oct. 11, while defenseman Curtis Gedig was the conference rookie of the week Oct. 25.

The Buckeyes return to conference action this weekend with a two-game CCHA series at Michigan State. The teams will meet at 6:35 p.m. Friday and 7:05 p.m. Saturday in Munn Ice Arena in East Lansing, Mich.
