COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State student-athlete Derek Ross will forego his senior year of football eligibility and make himself eligible for the 2002 National Football League draft. Ross, from Rock Hill, S.C., underwent shoulder and toe surgery on Wednesday and will not play in the Outback Bowl.

A fourth-year junior, Ross is within a year of graduation and enrolled for the Winter Quarter.

Ross started 10 games at cornerback for the Buckeyes and led the Big Ten with seven interceptions. The interception total also was the third best nationally. He was a Second Team All-Big Ten selection.
