Results

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State’s Jesse Owens Memorial played host to the first day of the 2005 All-Ohio Track and Field Championships Friday. The Buckeye men’s team completed day-one action in a tie for third place with 15 team points. The OSU women stand in fourth place with 19 points heading into day two, which starts at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The women earned 13 points in the women’s hammer as senior Tiffany Davis tossed a winning mark of 184 feet, 1 inch ahead of teammate Katy Houser, who took third with a season-best effort of 176-4. The men also grabbed top honors in the weight as Bryan Duby won his third straight hammer event with a winning throw of 198-3. Both Davis and Duby exceeded the Mideast regionally qualifying marks.

Freshmen Kim Willet and Lenny Jatsek also contributed points. Both placed sixth in their respective events.

The men’s and women’s teams also had several competitors travel to compete in the Mt. Sac Relays at Mt. San Antonio Community College in Walnut, Calif. For the men, freshman distance runner Braden Martinez took third in the University/Open 5,000-meter run in a time of 14:35.33. The men’s team also had four runners in the 10,000-meter University/Open event. Freshman John Ealy and junior Dan Glaz led the way as Ealy crossed the finish line in 28th place in a time of 29:54.34 ahead of Glaz and his 33rd-place finish in 30:15.27.

Nicole Gliem represented the women’s distance team at Mt. SAC with a sixth-place time of 16:43.87 in the 5,000-meter University/Open event.
