COLUMBUS, Ohio–For the second consecutive year Kristy Dascoli (Sr., Bradenton, Fla.) and Monica Rincon (Jr., Lapeer, Mich.) have advanced to the second round of the NCAA Doubles Championship via an upset.

The unranked Buckeyes knocked off the No. 26 team of Clair Carter and Llona Kordonskaya of Washington, 6-3, 6-4, to advance to the round of 16. The win sets up a rematch with rivals Michelle Dasso and Becky Varnum or Notre Dame today at 3 p.m. The duo is ranked No. 7 in the nation and defeated Dascoli and Rincon March 3 in Columbus.

Last year Dascoli and Rincon defeated the No. 8-ranked team of Lucie Dvorakova and Daria Zoldakova of Texas Christian, 6-3, 6-2. They then fell in the second round to Stanford’s Laura Granville and Keiko Tokuda, 6-2, 6-3.
