COLUMBUS, Ohio. – Ohio State junior golfer Daniel Wetterich was named to the PING All-Region Team on Saturday as selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Wetterich had a stellar season, averaging a team-best 72.2 strokes per round over 11 events. That does not include his match play victory over Michigan’s Kyle Mueller in the Big Ten Match Play Championship. Wetterich also finished in the top-20 six times in the 11 events including a third place finish at the Bearcat Invitational where he fired a career-best 63 in the second round.

This is Wetterich’s first All-Region honor of his career. He also was selected as an individual to compete at the NCAA Columbus Regional.

NOTING THE BUCKEYES

The Buckeyes are coming off a month break and are set for a final push of three-straight weekends of tournaments.

The first is this weekend at the Boilermaker Invitational followed by the Robert Kepler Invitational at home and them capped by the Big Ten Championship at Baltimore Country Club.

Ohio State finished fourth in the 16-team field at the Linger Longer Invitational last month in Greensboro, Ga.

Will Grimmer led the Buckeyes as he tied for 17th at 1-under par, his third under-par event of the season.

Daniel Wetterich leads the team with a 71.25 scoring average and four top-20 finishes. Wetterich was named the Big Ten Player of the Week last fall after his career-best performance at the Bearcat Invitational.

Caden Orewiler notched the best finish of his career with a T3 in the individual event at the Puerto Rico Classic

The Buckeyes went 3-1 at the Big Ten Match Play Championship in February. OSU defeated Michigan and Maryland on day one before falling to Iowa in a fog-shortened nine-hole match on Saturday morning. The Buckeyes closed the event with a 6-0 sweep of Minnesota on Saturday afternoon.

Will Voetsch opened his spring with a top-5 finish at the Georgia Southern Individual Invitational.

Ohio State notched a pair of sixth place finishes early in the fall and then capped the fall with a runner-up finish at the Dayton Intercollegiate
