COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State men’s hockey freshman forward Dan Knapp (Rochester, Mich.) has been named the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Rookie of the Week for the week ending Oct. 20, the league announced Monday. Knapp helped lead the Buckeyes to a 1-0-1 record on the road at Alaska Fairbanks in their first CCHA series of the year.

Knapp led the Buckeyes with three goals in their two games against the Nanooks. Knapp scored twice, including the gamewinner, in the Buckeyes’ 6-3 win in the series opener and in the finale, he tallied OSU’s lone goal in a 1-all tie. He made the most of his chances, as he scored on all three shots he took on the weekend. Knapp also was +3 in the series.

The Buckeyes (1-1-1, 1-0-1 CCHA) open their home season when they play host to Clarkson (0-0-0) at 7:05 p.m. Friday in Value City Arena. The teams will close out the series at 3:05 p.m. Sunday in VCA.
